Jowett Yu Brings A Taste Of Hong Kong’s Ho Lee Fook To Sydney
Ms G’s co-creator Jowett Yu will return to the Potts Point restaurant next week, joining forces with his former co-creator and current executive chef Dan Hong to stage a mid-week whisky party. Former Tetsuya’s chef Louis Tikram – currently the darling of Los Angeles’ with his LP & EP restaurant – will be there, too, with all three teaming up to create an epic snack menu on November 12 and 13.
Yu’s smash-hit Hong Kong basement restaurant Ho Lee Fook is a favourite on HK’s best restaurant lists, serving up Cantonese cuisine with a Taiwanese twist, alongside Taiwanese whiskey (including one from Yu’s father’s hometown in the Yilan province), natural wines and loud beats.
Mullumbimby-born Tikram is flying in from the States, where he helms LP & EP, a rooftop bar and eating house on the corner of Melrose Avenue in West Hollywood. Launched with partners DJ Grant Smilie and David Combes, the pan-Asian restaurant has become a WeHo hot-spot, serving up mapo eggplant alongside duck larb and banana-leaf grilled ocean trout.
The parties will feature a bespoke 12 different canapes from the lads, along with four custom cocktails to support the launch of Chivas Regal’s The Blend, DJ sets, experiential stations and a bottle of blended whisky to take home. All-inclusive tickets are $89.95, and are available here.
