Five Hotels To Consider If You’re A Music Fan

Some hotels focus on design, others are known for their art, and many concentrate on wellness. Only a select few however centre on music.

Whether that means their rooms and common areas are covered in music memorabilia, or whether that translates to quirky offerings designed for guests to better appreciate artists and tunes, as far as memorable stays go, music-themed hotels truly are in a league of their own.

If you’re a fan of music, these are the five that should really strike a chord for you.

Hard Rock Lake Tahoe, Nevada

Hard Rock Hotels around the world are all music-themed, but at Hard Rock Lake Tahoe in Nevada, the beautiful surrounding scenery of Lake Tahoe elevates the experience, giving the music theme a classier feel.

In addition to the long-standing Sound Of Your Stay programme, which gives you access to song downloads via you room key, the latest Hard Rock Hotel initiative is a quirky offering called Rock Om. From the comfort of your own room, partake in a customised yoga experience through a video created by musical director and sound ambassador Dr Drez and his wife, musician and yogi Marti Nikko.

W Barcelona, Barcelona

Another hotel name synonymous with music is W Hotels. A permanent music initiative at beachside W Barcelona is an in-hotel sound studio, which opened in early 2018, and is the first to open at a European W and the fourth worldwide. Equipped with the latest in studio technology, it’s already seen a slew of international artists come through to record while on the road.

The hotel also played host to music festival Wake Up Call in September 2018. The two-day festival saw big name acts like Robin Schulz, Martin Solveig, and Cassius take to the stage.

The Guest House at Graceland, Tennessee

Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee is a must-visit for any Elvis Presley fan, and The Guest House at Graceland is exactly where you want to stay while exploring the Southern US area.

Though the hotel itself is a welcoming blend of modern and charm, it’s its exclusive The Founders membership experience that makes staying here truly worthwhile. The membership offers Elvis fans special access to Graceland mansion and grounds, as well as exclusive invites to Elvis-themed events.

The Evelyn, New York City

Formerly called the Gershwin Hotel, but revamped and renamed The Evelyn, this Triumph Hotels property taps into the music scene of New York City. Its recent redesign, unveiled in November 2018, reflects both the style of the Jazz Age heyday and of nearby historic area Tin Pan Alley, home to many music publisher offices.

A gramophone sits on side tables in every suite, letting you turn up the music from your smartphone, the chandeliers are shaped like trombones, and in the bathrooms, you’ll find musical notes on the tiles.

Boogie Woogie Beach House, Mid North Coast

The musical theme of Boogie Woogie Beach House on New South Wales’s Mid North Coast, four hours north of Sydney, is apparent in its every nook and cranny. Every shower has a mosaic of a different music legend’s face – think Louis Armstrong, Blondie and David Bowie – record players can be found in every room, and stacks of records line its hallways.

In the evenings, the hotel hosts concerts at their outdoor FLOW Bar that are so popular they’re known to attract a large chunk of the surrounding town. The calendar line-up is diverse – from an award-winning folk cellist to a guy and a guitar doing soft rock covers so every visit will be unlike the last.

Sunset Marquis, Los Angeles

Being only a block away from Los Angeles’ Sunset Strip rock clubs, it was inevitable that the Sunset Marquis hotel would become a mecca for the music crowd over the years. It’s since seen the likes of The Doors, The Killers, Aerosmith and Led Zeppelin walk through its lobby.

Today, it’s still an institution known for its hosting of rock royalty – something that becomes very apparent during the weekend of the Grammys when you’ll find it packed with nominees. If you’re not staying here, you can still get a feel for the place by catching free concerts the hotel often hosts on their Villa Pool Deck.
