It’s that time again, folks: that blessed annual week where Campari, gin, and vermouth come together in perfect harmony.
Each year, Negroni Week packs a punch on the social calendar, with a program of parties, pop-ups, and events. Running from June 24 to 30, this year’s Negroni Week gives fans another chance to catch up with pals and explore your local traps in classic Negroni style.
On top of that, Negroni Week is a global charity event through which a portion of all Negronis sold at participating venues is donated to a handful of charities around the globe.
To help you enjoy your favourite drink even more, here’s the lowdown on where to find yourself during this year’s Negroni Week.
Official Negroni Week Opening Party
Where: Zeta Bar at Hilton Hotel, Sydney
When: 6pm to 9pm, Monday, June 24
Classics always have their place, but there’s nothing quite like a fresh twist on an old recipe. Kick-off Negroni Week in style at the official Opening Party, where you can try Negroni twists from 15 of Sydney’s best cocktail bars. Proceeds from the night go towards local charities, with the additional chance to take home an original painting by Archibald Packing Room Prize winner, Jamie Preisz.
Where: Parlour Cucina, QT Sydney
When: 5pm to 7pm, June 1 to June 30
Did we mention that the Negroni is celebrating its 100th birthday this year? Well, it is, and the freshly opened Parlour Cucina at QT Sydney invites you to celebrate the century in style every night in June, with $10 Classic Negronis, delicious Italian fare and entertainment – the whole month long.
Where: Rosetta Terrace, Sydney
When: 4pm to 7pm, Monday to Friday for all of June
The Little Rose terrace at Rosetta Sydney makes for the perfect spot to end your day throughout June, kicking back in the sunshine over delicious pizza and salumi, and a selection of crisp, fresh Negronis.
Art Of The Perfect Negroni
Where: Bistecca, Sydney
When: From 6pm, June 12 to 15 (Live Art) and June 24 to 28 (Silent Auction)
Head down to the bar at Bistecca between June 12 and 15, where a line-up of esteemed local artists will get together to make a unique on-site creation in a one-of-a-kind live art spectacle. Then, head down to the Bistecca bar between 24 and 28 June for the Bistecca Negroni Week Silent Auction and bid on a piece of the art and take it take home with you. All proceeds from the auction go towards a charity of the winner’s choice.
Negronis For Good
Where: Lui Bar, Melbourne
When: June 24 to 30
As part of Negroni Week’s charity efforts, award-winning Lui Bar bartender Tong Huang has put not one, but three spins on the classic drink, with proceeds from sale of the drinks to be donated to victims of the recent terror attack in Christchurch. Available will be a gin-based native Negroni, a bourbon Boulevardier, and a rum Right Hand.
Negroni Gallery & The Negroni Room
Where: The Clock, Surry Hills
When: 12pm to 12am, June 16 to 30, and 5pm ‘til late, Sunday, June 30
They say it’s always a good time at The Clock, though it’s an even better time through the second half of June. Negroni Week takes centre stage at this iconic Surry Hills pub, with the entire venue transformed into the Negroni Gallery – head down and check out the venue’s awesome collection of vintage art and enjoy a tumbler of red-hued goodness.
As well as being the home to the Negroni Gallery, The Clock is also invites you to this stunning culmination of 2019’s Negroni Week at the Negroni Room. The pub’s Whiskey Room becomes all things Negroni on June 30, where you can create your very own Negroni poster.
From Florence To Vegas
Where: Maybe Sammy, The Rocks
When: 6pm to 8pm, Thursday, June 27
A culinary journey from Florence to Vegas? If that sounds like your jam, head down to The Rocks and experience the wild flavour ride at cocktail institution Maybe Sammy. There’s a selection of unique Negroni twists on offer over a spread of incredible Vegas-inspired snacks and a little Rat Pack-inspired a Capella entertainment.
Sips On Screen: The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou
Where: The Elk Room at The Everleigh, Melbourne
When: 6pm to 8pm or 8:45pm to 10:45pm, Wednesday, June 26
The showpiece event of Negroni Week 2019! Melbourne’s cherished cocktail institution The Everleigh presents a one-of-a-kind experience in its hallowed Elk Room, where Wes Anderson’s classic film The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou will be paired with a night of Negroni-inspired cocktails from the bar’s award-winning mixology crew. Enjoy a Negroni upon arrival, courtesy of Campari, and enjoy complimentary popcorn and pizza by the slice from Connie’s.
The Negronis will be served throughout the screening, with full bar menu available. It’s sure to be a Negroni experience like no other.
