Bookings are now open for the soon-to-launch Discovery Rottnest Island, an eco-tent resort just a short ferry ride from Fremantle. Starting from 1 March 2019, guests can enjoy glamping-style accommodation on the Western Australian island.

Located behind the sand dunes of Pinky Beach, the 83 tent eco-retreat offers a variety of accommodation options for guests with private ensuites and outdoor decks. There’s even a Beach Club and 30m resort pool to relax and enjoy the views across The Basin with city views on the horizon.

Discovery Rottnest Island is a low-impact resort designed to offer all the experience of staying on the Island with minimal impact. Base options include a 56 square metre under-roof safari style tent with ensuite, private outdoor deck, queen bed and all the creature comforts of home including a pillow topped mattress.

Standard tents are suitable for two people while the slightly larger Superior Tents also include a King-sized bed and kitchenette. Family tents offer a King bed with a separate annex for bunk beds, bathroom and kitchenette and are suitable for up to 4 people.

Want to go all out? Book into the Deluxe Dune tent with an extra-large amount of internal space, king bed, ensuite, interior day bed, walk in robe, kitchenette, private deck, floor to ceiling glass sliding doors, premium ocean views and luxury outdoor furniture.

The Deluxe eco-tent is the largest and most luxurious eco-tent available on the Island. It is the ideal choice for couples seeking a premium experience, with uninterrupted coastal views.

No matter which tent you choose, they provide bed linen, bath and beach towels, bathroom amenities, tea and coffee making facilities, crockery, cutlery and glassware. Superior and Deluxe tents also provide a microwave and mini fridge in the kitchenette.

Boardwalks between eco-tents, the resort pool and Pinky’s Beach Club will also ensure the landscape is undisturbed and enables flora and fauna to continue to move and grow freely.

Additionally, a number of barbecue facilities are available with BBQ packs and salads available to purchase through Pinky’s Beach Club. Don’t feel like cooking? The Beach Club also serves locally inspired dishes and cocktails to enjoy as the sun goes down.

From March 2019, Discovery Rottnest Island will also be available to group booking including weddings and special events as well.

While there, guests can enjoy Pinky Beach, just below Bathurst Point Lighthouse and a short walk from the Thomson Bay settlement and known for its white sands and sparkling blue water. You’ll also likely spot the native quokkas which are very active during the day and aren’t afraid to get up close, especially for photos.

The Island also offer plenty of great spots for snorkelling, as it’s home to hundreds of species of tropical fish with dolphins, stingrays and turtles often spotted. If you’re feeling adventurous there’s also opportunity for skydiving or exploring the island by push bike. You can even hire a bike while you’re there.
