As more than a million people venture into the city to celebrate this year, you can say farewell to 2018 in style as the city comes alive to ring in the arrival of 2019. Need some ideas on where to join the festivities? Here are just a few ideas.
Zephyr Sky Bar, Darling Harbour
As the Darling Harbour fireworks light up the sky, venture into the Hyatt Regency Hotel to enjoy one of two amazing options. Sailmaker Celebrations will be in full swing from 6pm until late for $295 per person including a delicious spread as well as an included beverage package.
Alternatively, book in for the Sky High Celebration at Zephyr Sky Bar from 8pm until late where you’ll get an open air bar with panoramic views of Darling Harbour’s fireworks. For $399 per person you’ll get access to the Chefs Station, canapés and beverage package.
El Camino Cantina, Manly and The Rocks
Ring in the New Year with a little Mexican flair at El Camino Cantina’s NYE Party in Manly or The Rocks. Dig into a four-hour Tex-Mex food and drinks package for $99 per person between 6pm and 10pm. You’ll also get roaming canapés, a taco station, pinatas, prizes, DJ music and unlimited margaritas.
Taronga Zoo, Mosman
Offering a variety of ticket options depending on your vantage point and what you’re looking for in a celebration, New Year at Taronga has got different packages as well as spectacular views for the early and midnight fireworks shows. The proceeds also benefit the Zoo’s conservation work.
Tickets such as their standard Silver Reserve start from $200 per adult and include access to the concert lawns from 6pm where you enjoy views of the Harbour and Bridge, get a complimentary park and ride transfer to and from Spit Junction, free same day zoo entry, and live entertainment. Saké Restaurant & Bar, Manly
Enjoy the fireworks from the other side of the Harbour and book yourself a window or terrace table with views for $219 per person at Saké Restaurant & Bar in Manly. It includes a seven-course set menu with glass of Champagne on arrival. If you’re more of an inside person, you can nab the same package with an indoor table at $199 per person.
Cockatoo Island, Sydney Harbour
Spots on Cockatoo Island book super-fast so if you’re looking to do something a little bit different, lock this one in ASAP. Cockatoo Island’s overnight New Years experience includes a two-night camping/glamping accommodation as well as the views, minus the crowds and long walks home. There’s also plenty of entertainment to keep you busy while you’re on the Island including live music, movies, children’s activities, pop up food and drink outlets and more. Prices range from $450-$2400 for 2-6 people.
The Argyle, The Rocks
DJ Tigerlily is set to take over The Argyle on New Year’s night and you can dance the night away with a VIP package set at $150 per person scoring you a three-hour food and drink package from 6pm until 9pm before you venture out to celebrate midnight.
Royal Botanic Gardens, Sydney

You can count down to the New Year at a local classic in Glebe. The Toxteth will be farewelling the year with a celebration package priced at $100 per person which gets you canapes, a 3-hour beverage package and views of the city and fireworks from Birdies Bar. It’s a smart move if you’re keen to stay out of the heart of the city but don’t want to miss out on the excitement.
Hacienda Bar, Circular Quay
Like all the hottest of hotspots come New Year’s Eve, you’ll have to be quick to score tickets as this event is nearly sold out. For just $499 per person, Hacienda Bar, a Cuban-inspired cocktail lounge located above Circular Quay, will be offer you exclusive access to the views of Harbour through floor-to-ceiling windows, a glass of Veuve Clicquot Champagne on arrival, before enjoying a series of Cuban-inspired canapés, inspired by Hacienda’s menu.
From there, it’s five hours of free-flowing wine, beer and sparkling until the wee hours of the morning. With 90’s hits all night, we’re told dancing shoes are an essential.
The Royal Hotel, Paddington
This year, The Royal Paddington has two ways to ring in 2019. Following the success of the sell-out event last year, book your tickets for the rooftop bar and Elephant Bar where you can enjoy fireworks, canapes and drinks from 8pm with DJ music. For $225 per person you get a Gold ticket including a 4-hour premium beverage and canape package, flute of Moet and Chandon at midnight and access to Royal Rooftop and Elephant Bar. The Silver package is $120 per person and includes the 4- hour beverage and canape package, a glass of sparkling at midnight, and access to Verandah Bar.
Additionally, The Royal Hotel will also be hosting their inaugural New Year’s Day Brunch for the morning after. Book yourself in for a ‘hair of the dog’ brunch from midday and get a long, leisurely lunch until 2pm with bottomless bottomless cocktails including Bloody Mary’s, Bellinis and Espresso Martinis.
They’ll be plenty of hearty eats and brunch classics as well as a DJ’s playing the hottest tunes well into the afternoon. At $85 per person you get brunch with cocktail on arrival or go for the $100 per person for brunch with bottomless cocktails.
